Last Sunday, September 30th, I had the pleasure of performing at the Hallmark Hotel in Sefton Park, Liverpool.
The occasion was the lovely Sybil’s 90th birthday.
As you may know, I perform at predominantly weddings, but I also regularly take bookings for private functions and events, such as birthday parties.
As a professional singer, I do enjoy the variety that performing at different types of events brings.
In fact, it became clear that there were a few familiar faces at the party, with several knowing my family.
I live in an area of Liverpool called Allerton, which is close to the Hallmark Hotel, in case you’re wondering.
The first set was intended to be background music during afternoon tea, but a few guests were eager to dance.
I thought the atmosphere during the party was lovely:
Sybil herself was the first up and within a few moments may others joined her, swaying to some of the American Songbook and Rat Pack classics. These will have been some of her favourite songs from her younger years.
After a short break, I performed my second set, which was a mix of 60s music predominantly, including some material from The Four Seasons.
The guests were really having a fantastic time dancing to the second set and I received some wonderful feedback at the end. Later on, I received a great review from June, who booked me.
Until next time,
